Uninterrupted Power Supply
You really aren’t the first person to think of the abbreviation UPS as the delivery service for your online orders. But at an electrotechnical Installer, the abbreviation stands for an Uninterruptible Power Supply.
Freely translated, a UPS stands for “Uninterruptible Power Supply. Not every company has an emergency generator at their fingertips by default. In case of a power failure – for a short or longer period of time – this can have serious consequences due to failure of business-critical equipment.
Power failure…so what!
We effortlessly list critical equipment where power outages can have major consequences. Consider elevators in public areas, equipment in operating rooms, data centers, tunnels, telecom networks, as well as mission-critical equipment in full-continuity businesses and factories. UPS applications are used in these situations. After all, power outages by definition come unannounced and invariably inconvenient. So creating time to bridge the effects of power outages on mission-critical equipment can literally be a matter of life and death during a disaster.
UPS Solutions
We distinguish between dynamic and static UPS applications, which we offer you “tailor-made” with a professional justification.
A failure can be brief or prolonged. Generally, a combination of a UPS with an emergency power generator is the – dynamic – solution for absorbing short and long term disturbances in the public network.
Autonomy time
In our industry, we don’t talk about bridging time, we talk about autonomy time. Autonomy time is the time in minutes that the UPS can power a system under load and load combined with the maximum load. Autonomy time depends on the load and the number of batteries in a – static – UPS.
Static or dynamic UPS
A static UPS operates on batteries that are switched on immediately in the event of a mains power failure: the batteries take over the power of the connected critical business equipment. Because a static UPS must deliver maximum power, in large applications it primarily provides a bridging time to allow an emergency power generator to start up. The combination of UPS with emergency power generator is called a dynamic UPS in technical terms.
Can it also be done with an emergency generator?
We can give two answers to that. But then we will ignore your specific business and operations. So we put to you a few questions of conscience: can you tell us – in your own jargon – what goes seriously wrong in the event of a prolonged power outage? And can you translate that into a “damage” figure. Damage to processes, equipment, business, claims for non-delivery or late delivery? Or – worse – damage to people or animals?
If you have an answer to even one of our questions, it’s high time we spoke. So that your input gives you honest and independent advice. Rovitech Projects ICT has an In House specialty and compares various manufacturers of UPS systems. On this basis we give a customized advice.
Advice, delivery, installation and maintenance
We distinguish ourselves as an electrical engineering company by performing the maintenance of UPS systems entirely in-house. And that’s a good thing, because in doing so we provide advice on a product that we can not only supply and install, but also maintain.
Specialist in UPS systems
At Rovitech, we have years of experience in setting up infrastructure networks and sustainable server rooms. We have also specialized in the installation and 24/7 maintenance of UPS systems.
